After I won my fight so quickly, I figured I'd probably get picked in the beginning because it was such a fast, impressive fight. On paper, there's not much there, and my fight was so fast you couldn't really tell much about me. I ended up being picked in about the middle of the draft, and I was fine with that. I ended up being on Team Liddell, which was great. As soon as I got there and I saw Chuck's coaching staff, I immediately wanted to be on Liddell's team.
I wasn't sure who was going to be there as assistant coaches. Prior to going to the house, I was kind of thinking I would prefer to be on Tito Ortiz's team. My standup is the strongest part of my game, and that's Chuck's specialty. I figured Tito could help me on my weaknesses. But when we got there and met the coaches, I found out that Chuck had assembled this awesome coaching staff. At that point, I knew I wanted to be on Chuck's team, and luckily I they wanted me.
The only bummer was that McCray and Yager were picked by Team Ortiz. I was like, "Oh, man, now we might have to fight each other." But like I said before, you might have to fight everybody in the house, so it wasn't too much of a big deal.
Now last night, you guys got to see that Dana White had some concerns about our team. He and Tito both said they thought we had a weak team that was filled with small guys. You'd always expect the other team to talk trash, but we didn't know until about halfway through the filming that Dana thought we were such a bad team. I thought we had a great team.
We've got some short guys, but these guys have punching power, they have wrestling ability, and every single one of them is tough. But we didn't care that the other team was saying that. We knew we could just stay together and push each other hard.
